Charting Markers

So I actually did make sure I got around to charting out all my markers into swatches today. I even tried to procrastinate by playing a game for a while, but I stopped with enough time to finish my other tasks.

It could be that I was inspired by going to Joann’s to get some more. They dropped two other 50% off coupons that I’m a sucker for every time. At this rate, I’ll clear out their marker packs.

…which, at the price I’m getting them for, isn’t an entirely bad idea.

But I wanted to actually sit down and color on a piece of nicer paper to see what the colors were actually like. The marker caps and packaging lies since they can’t match the true color of the ink very well. Only the paper gives a better idea. And some of the colors compared to the markers are wildly different.

It feels good to have them all down—at least the ones I currently own. I’ll need some better lighting to be able to differentiate their colors more, but it’s a start.

The real problem now will be figuring out where to store them. I’ve read many things that state it doesn’t matter which way you store markers—either horizontal or vertically—but it makes sense to me to store them horizontally so that all the ink doesn’t flow just to one side of the marker.

My current shelf that holds the Copics doesn’t fit the bigger barrels of the Noirs very well. But I’d like some sort of unit where I can see the ends (the marker numbers) all at once. Maybe I’ll have to construct my own!
